Transition towards information society. Present trends and future expectations

Abstract

For the last severai decades, industrialized societies have been witnessing a revolutionary transition towards the so called information or postindustrialized society. This is due to the convergence of communications and computer (and recently broadcasting) technologies. Although it evolved almost simultaneously in three different regions of the world, namely Northern America, Western Europe and Far East, recently we are witness a unification of these separate efforts under a general title of Global Information Society (GM) or Global Village.
