Toward the biographical world archive

Abstract

Saur Veriag created an international biographical information system for satisfying the needs of history research. As a first step of the enterprise, the archive of German biographies was established by processing German biographical aids (lexicons, encyclopedia, reference books etc). This was followed by a number of national archives, including the Hungarian one as the 19th archive. The microfiche was selected as the medium of the archives, accompanied by an index in book form. The common index of the 19 national archives under preparation will certainly be a very good tool of research.
