From print to electronic publishing. New challenges for the subscription agent

Abstract

In view of the dramatically increasing number of electronic publication, the present common notion toward electronic publications and document supply should be revised and modified. Librarians' assumptions regarding technology, users' habits and publishers' practice have not been always correct. On the other hand, views questioning the reason for existence of libraries have proved to be exaggerated. The user, the publisher, the library and the journal subscription agent can comply with challenges of the new situation in a cooperative way only.
