The hypermedia service of the internet: the World Wide Web

Abstract

One of the newest tools of the internet is the World Wide Web, a hypermedia text retrieval system. It has been available since 1991. The WWW allows hypertext links to databases across the internet within minutes. Owing to the increased use of the WWW, traffic on the internet (according to some experts) increased some 350,000 times in the last year alone. In Hungary few works have been published on the internet, although it should be in everyone's interest to know how the next millennium's library will look like.
