Computer-assisted circulation system in the Hungarian National Technical Library

Abstract

HNTL introduced a computerized circulation system based on the ALEPH software in August 1994, substituting the traditional circulation system of the Library. It was possible by implementing a further module of the integrated library system ALEPH. This review covers preparation for the transition, system opportunities and limits, record contents, parameters controlling transactions, online and batch processes, data protection and the effect of the computer-assisted circulation on OPAC use.
