Presentation of the Chamber of Hungarian Database Suppliers. An interview with CHDS Presldent, dr. J. Mlinarics, and Secretary, Mr. A. Félegyházi, Jr.

Abstract

The history, membership and role of CHDS is presented through a personal interview with its two leaders. From its establishment in 1991, CHDS has grown to a well-known organisation of the Hungarian information industry, with more than 60 members (institutions, companies, libraries, individuals). Monthly meetings of CHDS Club have been held to discuss several actual topics. In addition, a group within CHDS called Online Infoclub has its monthly group meetings. CHDS operates a database of Hungarian information specialists, and a metadatabase of Hungarian databases. As its main task, CHDS organised three subsequent meetings on information science and technology in Budapest, the DATseries, in 1991, 1992 and 1993, resp., which have been consldered as major events of this subject field in this country.
