Abstract

The overall objective of the IMPACT programme is the establishment of an internal market for information services. Strategic information initiatives are intended to stimulate the early emergence in the market of innovative, userfriendly information services and products of European origin. Under IMPACT 2, Community support has been given to strategic initiatives in the areas of Interactive Multimedia Information Services and Geographical Information Systems. Strategic alliances between European organisations are now in place in various sectors of the information market. Initial conclusions will be drawn.
