-Abstract
CL of BTU has been using since 1991 the ALEPH system that has the capability to perform all library automation functions. Its database comprises of more than 90,000 records, and it handles an average of 600 loan operations daily. The system was installed on a VAX 6000 computer. Experiences showed that majority of problems during installation and operation could be eliminated by proper and careful preparatory efforts. Thorough training of library staff and extended education of library clients on the efficient use of ALEPH are equal conditions for smooth operation.
