Database construction for the transportation industry of Hungary

Abstract

An overview is presented of the information, documentation and database building projects in the Hungarian transportation industry. An important event of the cooperative efforts with international organizations is Hungary's joining to the council of Europeant ministries of transport (CEMT) and, through it, the availability of international transportation information services. A particularly important service is the TRANSDOC database available for online searching at the ESA-tRS host. Within the improvement project of the Hungarian information infrastructure in the field of transportation, several Hungarian databases accessible through networks, and information services are reported. They include library automation, database building and information system development activities under the auspieces of the Institute of Transportation Science, the Transportation Museum, and the Ministry of Transportation and Water Engineering, Hungary.
