HUNPATÉKA - The Hungarian national patent archive on CD-ROM

Abstract

Information technology developments for patent publications retrieval and archiving are described, referring to the HUNPATÉKA CD-ROM database published jointly by the National Office of Investments - Hungary (OTH) and ARCANUM Databases. HUNPATÉKA contains bibliographic data of about 150,000 patents announced in Hungary from 1920 to the present. The database has abstracts for the patent records from 1990 onwards, and from 1992 it provides patent claims as well. The CD-ROM edition is based on the COLT database that has been operational at OTH for four years with the main objective to support the printed patent periodical Gazette of Patents and Trademarks with accurate, reliable data. In addition to current data, OTH started a project of producing a complete Hungarian patent database in retrospect, back to 1896. The facsimile type ESPACE-PRECES CD-ROM database published jointly by Central and East European countries is also described which replaces printing of patent description.
