Abstract

The development history and the present architecture of the ETHERNET network of BTU is presented. The advantages resulting from the standard network design, the information services, the improvements foreseen in the future, and connection possibilities to the BTU LAN from outside the BTU are discussed. The subnetwork developed in the Central Library and the new services introduced through the integrated library system ALEPH are reported. A brief account is given of the most important parameters of the ALEPH system.
