A comparative study of the training course curricula Information Sources, Information Retrieval Services

A joint research project is going on within the framework of TEMPUS 297 JEP (Joint European Project) for the improvement of training courses and their curricula for librarians and information scientists. The research project by Fachhochschule Hannover, Germany, by Ftijkshogeschol Ijselland, Deventer, Holland, and by the two Library Departments of Roland Eötvös University (ELTE), Budapest, Hungary aims to develop and improve the training courses of ELTE. The research team of German, Dutch and Hungarian specialists is engaged in the analysis of and development recommendations for the course Information Sources, Information Retrieval Services of ELTE. Based on the results achieved so far, the findings of the research can be summarized as follows:
It is recommended that within the Hungarian higher education program, the training and education of computerized information systems be enhanced. A good opportunily for this is provided by the Computer Laboralory of ELTE established wilh TEMPUS support.
It is recommended to perform online practice searches by students in various databases.
It is recommended to reconsider the number of lessons and their incorporation in the curricula of graduate student of this course, and the weight of the course in the overall credit system.
The excepted conclusion of the research project is September 1992.
