According to experiences with business information services in the UK, the presents the new elements for consideration in business information, and discusses the major differences between traditional library reference services and business information services. The functions of the librarian will be taken over by the information manager and the intermediary, and in the changed demand for information it is inadequate to refer to the library collection as to sources; rather than pointing out sources for the end users, specified questions have to be answered for them.
