The scientific and technical information system of Yugoslavia

Abstract

Yugoslavia started the systematic development ol its nacional scientific and technical information system in the second part of 1988. According to the adopted development plan, national specialized branch subsystems, a non-specialized subsystem, an online host, and the national computer and communication network would be set up gradually, up to 1991. The aim of the national system is to provide scientists with all scientific and technical information they need. The costs necessary to eslablish the infrastructure and the planned subsystems would be supplied by a central foundation. The realization ol this project will be controlled by the University of Maribor as the main contractor. This function was awarded to the Computer Centre by winning a public grant.
