Networking of construction industry information: More than a magic word?

Abstract

Changes that took place in Europe recently and the continuous merging of national markets have brought about an increased need for the international cooperation between information centres in building and construction industry. This type of information needs some forms of support even under market economy circumstances, because the market is willing to accept only a part of the value as expressed by its price. The networking is based on computer and telecommunication technologies. Services and operation of the ICONDA and the ARCONIS information systems are described, and the necessity of the eslablishment of a new network for construction industry information, INTERNET, is outlined.
