Dissemination of Hungarian information resources utilizing computer technology

Abstract

According to the experiences of developed industrial nations, the majority of online searches is directed to retrieve information and data on that given nation. It implies that database usage should not be restricted exclusively to foreign databases also in Hungary. For this reason, the Hungarian Economic Chamber, in conjunction with the Computer and Administration Management Company SZÜV, has been active in the development of a national online information network which will be based on the "many database producers, a single intermediary" principle. In this context, this service is intended to be structured so that other selling rights of individual database owners be maintained. The degree of preparedness is 95 percent, and implementation can be expected by 1991.
