Abstract

The information consequences of the removal of trade barriers within the European Economic Communrty in 1993 are investigated. They are supposed to be characterized, in addition to the overall reduction of price levels, by a remarkably intensive competition on the one hand, and by a drive to enter the markets of the former CMEA countries on the other. It would mean also a severe challenge to the Hungarian economy that can be handled successfully only by deploying strong marketing and information tools. These tools to be applied to meet the challenge of 1993 are discussed.
