The Austrlan Journal Database as an online cataloguing system

Abstract

The Austrian Journal Database (Österreichische Zeitschriftdatenbank, ÖZDB) is presented both as a joint venture of Austrian scientific libraries and as the network centre of the online cataloguing of periodicals covering also the management of the central catalogue of periodicals. Former efforts to establish a central catalogue of periodicals, the preparations to create ÖZDB, its organirational structure and its utilization in practice are described. The expected realization of the computer-based Austrian Library Network and the integration of ÖZDB into this network is alsodealed with.
