Text processing on personal computers

Abstract

The Information Service of the Mining Association, Hungary, on the occasion of its medium-term information and computer application project, has over-viewed advanced processing techniques of textual documents based on personal computers. Processing can be done on simple text, on complex text with inherent reiations, on publications or on textual data files. Processing of the four document types investigated can be optimized usually by different programs written for personal computers. The features of the various document types. and the requirements of data exchange between the subprograms are presented. The generation of and experiences with the MicrolSIS database management system are discussed, and the factors needed for the development of processing textual documents are summarized.
