Use of ECHO databases and the education program of the CCL command language

Abstract

The CCL-TRAIN demonstration disk of the ECHO online host is presented with the aim of prodding librarians and librarian students to the application of its English version acquired by the Library Science Department of the National Széchényi Library, Hungary. The options of the education program are database descriptions, practice with Boolean operators, CCL language education, tests etc. Training possibilities are offered on the Library's computers not only for potential users of the the ECHO host's databases but it was found also useful as an educational tool of information systems generally. This user-friendly and easy-to-use program is suitable to introduce the art of information retrieval for beginners without computer education.
