Tudományos és Műszaki Tájékoztatás? A short essay on the journal's titlele

Abstract

The title of this journal ("Tudományos és Műszaki Tájékoztatás", i.e. "scientific and technical information") is analysed as an expression. There are demonstrated the antinomies and faults of its meaning. It is proved that the expression is erroneous and improper, regarding the implied discipline and the professional practice as well as the profile of the journal. Instead of it, the expression "szakirodalmi tájékoztatás" (i.e. "literature information") is proposed as the journal's title as well as the denomination of the discipline and the professional practice.
