Recent resulls and development trends in the information services of ihe construction industry

Abstract

Present information services in the construction industry have been characterized by the continuous expansion of computerized search services, similarly to other industries and technological or scientific fields. The computer-readable databases in the construction industry were introduced in the sixties and seventies, in developed Western countries. The national construction databases have been gradually replaced by cooperative international bibliographic databases, and similar trends can be observed for product-oriented and factual databases as well. To satisfy the needs of primary document acquisition, developed reprographic and micrographic facilities are applied. A major element of further development is the education of users and their Iraining to use developed information technology. The international cooperation in this respect is especially important for small countries like Hungary, therefore it is imperative for us to participate in any cooperative project.
