FromASCA to BITS. New computerized information services of the Library of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences

Abstract

The Library of HAS introduced new bibliographic information services called ASCA, based on the Science Citation Index (SCI) database of the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI, Philadelphia, USA). They cover both SDI services and retrospectlve retrieval services. Extending the Library's former SDI services, new weekly current awareness services called BIO-MIX have been introduced on the fields of biotechnology, genetics and molecular biology, in addition, unified ASCA/ASCATOPICS/BIO-MIX services are available on floppy discs to create personal files for users possessing IBM PC or compatible microcomputers. Finally, the Library offers selected topical bibliographies based on the literature of given subject fields, a service called BITS.
