Abstract

Libraries are today under pressure to implement new services as a result of many new technologies becoming available at an accelerating rate. To avoid failure, all steps which are ihe condition of success must be made. The essential elements are the development of a service proposal (who does the work, what and where should be done), the preparation of an implementation plan, a survey of costs, a financial plan (evaluation of financing methods and potential resources), a marketing strategy involving library staff and patrons as well as funding sources. Final element is the implementation of new services including their evaluation aspects and methods, staffing, written procedures and pilot test.
