New building and reorganization of the work of the National Agricultural Library "Károlyi Mihály" in Hungary

Abstract

The Library, a part of the information institute AGROINFORM, has been extended by a new building at the Library's premises in Budapest. The new extension incorporates lending offices, reading room and a big undivided cataloguing office. The new building removes several former inconveniencies, and it can be utilized to modify and improve the operational order of the library including acquisition, cataloguing, network coordination and translation services which have been reorganized on this occasion. The computerization of the library is well in progress. The library acquires 10000 new book volumes yearly, the number of current journal titles is 3000, and its exchange partners amount to 800 organizations in 59 countries.
