Development of computerized information services of AGROINFORM

Abstract

AGROINFORM started the introduction of automatic information services in 1987, based on a Micro-VAX- II Megamini computer, partly by own resources and partly by the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food. Basically, CDS/MicrolSIS was implemented as the textual database management software of AGROINFORM, though also its own software development became necessary for improved services. The main objective is the introduction of Hungarian databases and their online access through local and national networks under construction. The computer database makes also possible the conceptual and formai improvement of printed versions of two abstracting and indexing periodicals, the Agricultural Literature Review, and the Hungarian Agricultural Bibliography. In addition, an upgrading of its printing equipment should have been also accomplished.
