Knowledge transfer substituting information transfer: Non-sequential communication

The essential condition of the establishment of high-level civilisation was the invention of writing. However, writing had restricted communication possibilities of humanity to the forced path of sequentiality for thousands of years. The development of computer science and technology has made only recently possible the return to the communication universality of human mind from the sequential character of communication offered by writing. This univer-sality has been the main objective of hypertext/hypermedia concepts gaining ghound everywhere in the world. These concepts are overviewed, and exampies are discussed to illustrate practical systems realized or under realization. though several trade-offs were applied related to the entire concept itselt.
