20 years of UDC editions in Hungary (1966-1986)

Abstract

The broad application of UDC can be guaranteed only by the edition of revised tables published in the language of the users. The publication is influenced by the frequency of UDC revisions. The Hungarian UDC editions as reference series have started in the mid-sixties by the publication of an FID issue. The abridged edition appeared in 1966, the first series of the full edition in 42 volumes appeared between 1968 and 1972. Revised editions of ten volumes of the full edition reappeared in the period 1973-1976. In 1977 a new abridged edition was published. There has not been possible to publish modified tables of all volumes after 1978, though the revision of UDC has been slowed down.
The present trend is to republish volumes older than 10 years or of significantly modified chapters of the UDC. The most urgent rask is to publish a new abridged Hungarian edition.
