Past, present and future of technical library and information services

Abstract

The 40-year history of technical information services and libraries in Hungary is overviewed, and future prospects are attempter, to outline up to the year 2000. The time periods discussed are: trom 1945 to the end ot the sixties, from the seventies to the end of the eigthies, and from the nineties to the turn of the century. The characteristics of each period are and will be determined by the overall situation of the country, by the change of role of information and library systems with time, and by the available technology and professional conditioning.
