A summary is given of safety considerations related with computer lechnology and of emergency situations and disasters which are possible during the operaiion of computerized libraries. Topics covered include natural catastrophes, possible failures of computers, computer viruses. Troian Horses, password and code security breaking problems. Warning is given of the dangers of hardware theft. For security's sake, stand-by copies shoult it be created. It is dis-cussed that, if trouble occurs, how can and should it be corrected and recovered. Finally, planning to prevent and eliminaled catastrophes in discussed.
