Online information searching abroad and in OMIKK, Hungary

Abstract

The history of online information search services in Hungary, and the triple role of the National Technical Information Centre and Library, OMIKK, foreign trade, intermediary services and training, are deseribed. Based on literature data, the international status of online information searching is briefly overviewed and the position of OMIKK in this respect is evaluated. The slatistical analysis of online users of OMIKK was found to be a characteristic measure reflecting to a certain extent the innovation aspects of various research and development fields and industries in Hungary.
