Online intermediary training courses in OMIKK

Abstract

In Hungary, the number of institutions with thetr own password to online suppliers has reached 30 by 1985. Due to restricted possíbilities to participate at training courses for online searchers abroad, the introduction of such courses in Hungary has become a real demand. The organisation of such courses has been undertaken by the experienced Professional intermediaries of National Technical Information Centre and Library OMIKK. The curricula of training courses were centered around the command languages of online services most popular in Hungary and the most important databases in various subject fields. Following the description of the curricula and demonstration aids used during the courses, a survey of participants is presented, and the three courses held in 1985 are evaluated. Finally, future plans for modular online training courses are outlined.
