Liretature search by computer and manual methods on a query in mining

Abstract

The resulis of an online and a manual literature search on the query of Means and Techniques of Convergence Measurements in Mining are presented and analysed. Four databases of the Dialog and Pergamon InfoLine online services were used, while the manual search covered only the journals held by three special libraries in Hungary. The major information retrieval characieristics and data by both searches are presented and compared. The low overlap indicates that, for this particular query, both types of search is advised to conduct parallelly, in order to achieve a reasonably high coverage of the relevant literature.
