Development programme by microcomputer in the Central Library of the Karl Marx University of Economic Sciences

Abstract

The authors of the article briefly outline the programme for the application of computer technology at the Central Library of the Karl Marx University of Economic Sciences. A question should be answered: what are the real and, at the same, time optimum possibilities for the use of computers under the present circumstances. The results achieved so far in the field of microcomputer applications in the library are presented in detail. specifically, the subsystems for the administration of orders for periodicals, for ihe edition of the texts of library publica-tions, and for the registration of subscribed periodicals have been introduced. Finally, the main trends and tasks of further development of the applications are considered.
