Abstract

The author, the Deputy Chief Executíve of The Library Association (LA) of the UK had a talk with the Association ofthe Hungarian Librarians in May 1985, to establish a closer connection between the Associations ofthe two countries. On this occasion Mr. Bowden agreed to present LA's international activíties in the journal TMT. The LA has been doing international work since its establishment in 1877. These activities have grown during the 70s, and in the 80s they have been acknowledged internationally. In addition to the presentation of the bilateral relations and their subjects, also the relations of the LA with various international organisations (IFLA, UNESCO, FID) are described.
