Organisational guidelines of scientific and technical information and documentation activities in the Rumanian Socialist Republic

Abstract

The author presents an overview of the most important Rumanian institutions of scientific and technical information, then he deseribes the tasks of the leading organisation, the National Institute of Information and Documentation (Institutul National de Informare si Documentare - INID). Considering the organisational principles of the system of information institutes and activities, the ratio of centralisation and decentralisation is discussed. According to the principles, the centralisation in Rumania has been established in the control of filing and in coordination (the central catalogues of the country are deseribed in detail). The decentralisation is signitlcant in the fields of analysis and utilisation of information sources.
