Abstract

In most Western countries teletex services have been introduced as an international telecommunication service primarily for text transfer as defined by CCITT. It extends the possibilites offered by telex and, in the long run, it may even substitute telex. The principle of operation is that the mail between subscriber stations is delivered automatically by message exchanges from store to store, according to well defined rules making all teletex stations in the world compatible to each other. The new service provides full mailing capabilities, also diacritic letters of certain national alphabets can be displayed. The introduction of teletex in Hungary is under planning.
