Abstract

At The College of Library and Information Services (CLIS) of the University of Maryland a course of library planning was introduced in 1979 and has been offered annually since to classes of about a dozen students. The course concentrated on the goals to train students in effective cooperation with architects when planning small to medium sized facilites, as well as in the rehabilitation, conversion or adaptation of buildings formerly used for other purposes. The topics and the experiences of this course are overviewed.
