Facing the future: FID in perspective

Abstract

Starting with the explanation of the conceptes of librarianship, documentation and information, the lecture deli vered by the President of FID dealt with the development and the impact of information technology. He emphasized the significance of human personality, of individuals in the era of technical progress. The aims of FID include the improvement of the quality of documentation and information activities; the solution of problems in information management, information science and information technology. FID's importance is based on its internationality; the real resource of tts activity is the community of documentation and information specialists active all over the world.
