10 years of the computerized National Instrument Register

The computerized National Instrument Register in Hungary has been in operation since 1977. The database contains data of every instrument and auxiliary equipment for research and development above the value of 100,000 Forints. Instrument characteristics and statistical data can be retrieved by this system. The events leading to the establishment of the system, its design and operation, and user experiences are presented.
