Abstract

Modern science is global, therefore the performance of a university and its researchers depends on the availability of state-of-the-art, international information sources. Research, development and innovation activities of universities are primarily connected with the industrial sector, but they also establish new links with society (e.g. in the field of food quality control). Interdisciplinary research must also be supported by the most recent and quality information. Researchers need to use bibliographical and full-text databases already at the stage of refining the subject of their research. The author, who is vice-rector for scientific research at the University of Kaposvár emphasises the role of modern information services in the innovation chain.
