Information resource management for industrial information officers

Abstract

Starting from the fact that information plays a decisive role in national development, the author emphasizes the importance of information resource management (IRM) in industrial companies. The factors affecting information resource management, the internal policies for IRM and their needs as well as the skills and insights expected from the industrial resource manager are described in detail. The educational implications of IRM are also considered and, finally, the information education program of the Syracuse University School of Information Studies started in 1979 is presented.
