The use of science periodicals at the Library of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences

Abstract

In 1973 more than 40 percent of the foreign science periodicals were used at the Library of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Their use is analyzed by subject fields, frequency of demand and languages. The users from science fields are categorized by their profession and the habits of professionals from other fields in their use of scientific joumals are also studied. Finally, data are given to illustrate how the number of publications by scientists reflect the use of the Library. In the study data relating to 1973 were compared with those form 1966 and 1980.
