Incompetent scientists? Scene after a battle (for journals) on biology

Abstract

Based on statistical data, the authors point out how the decision of the ad-hoc committee responsible for the central reduction of the 1983 journal orders affected the field of biology. They conclude that the committee canceled the most important journals to the greatest extent and took them away from exactly those libraries where they were needed most of all, generally weakening the information capabilities of the country.
