Objectives of a common command language in online information retrieval

Abstract

The present status and development trends of the data processing systems for online searchable STI data-bases are reviewed. The most important online search systems are characterized and their common command languages are analyzed, The activities to unify the command languages are deseribed, the requirements of the common command language to be applied in the Scientific and Technical Information System of the CMEA member states are formulated and proposals for its possible realization are presented.
