Abstract

At present the developing countries - in case of comparing possibilities and capacity of qualified labour necessary for the realization - are metaphorically more similar to a dinosaunis (big body, small head) as to Ganesa (small body, big head). Within the quiek transformation of present situation the education has the main role. Assuring library and information supply is attached organically to this. Copying the specialized institutional system of developed countries, however, is generally unfeasable - although actions financed by UN organisations are directing the development to this way. Considering local conditions it is much more realistic -cheaper and more efficient — to recommend the establishment of integrated institutions. Such kind of institutions, „operating under one roof", may include the management of the publication of books and periodicals in the national language as well as the duties of the national library, archive and information centre.
