Information dissemination for partiele physicists through preprints

Abstract

A new publicalion method has been spreading from the mid-sixtics onwards. fírst in the world of elementary partiele scientists but later also in broader circles of physicists: the distribution of preprints. The author deseribes this method, its processes including early developments and future trends.
