Two-stage information service at the Central Library of the Technical University of Budapest

Abstract

The Central Library of the Technical University of Budapest offcrs a two-stage information service. The first stage, the so-called library information service is based on the catalogue system. Its objective is to satisfy the users' demand for any kind of scientific and technological literature as well as to provide information on the use of the library itself. The second stage is a special service aimed at information methodological activities and direct information supply, mainly for the faculty members and research specialists of the university. In addition to the present manual information retrieval the library promotes the utilization of other libraries' computerized information services at the university.
