Some issues of secure internet use

Abstract

The web – as is well-known – has in store several dangers in addition to its numerous advantages. The article reviews, from the point of libraries, the factors and activities which endanger the tools applied, involve – first of all financial – risks for users, as well as those which conflict with moral and/or legal regulations because of harmful or illegal content. The author presents the factors involving security risks regarding data and information which represent considerable value for libraries, as well as the tasks necessary to eliminate these risks in case of catastrophy, hardware and software failure, human negligence, criminal behaviour and intentional destruction.
