Abstract

Based on examples taken from the field of information design the author points out the advantages and the inadaquate application in Hungarian libraries of visual forms of information (symbols, pictograms etc). She also emphasizes the timelmess of the systematic planning of information-graphical symbols in large libraries. The commercial availability of the most successful versions could contribute to the improvement of the appearance and operation of smaller libraries.
